We spend a lot of time on our cell phones, so it’s no surprise that phone bills can be quite expensive. Companies know we like our phones so they’re ready and willing to make them costly to use. Thankfully, there are some ways to keep your bill low. Here are some ways to save on your next (and future) phone bills.
Don’t Upgrade
It’s always nice to get a new phone, but you almost never need one. If you’re enrolled in an auto-upgrade plan, opt out. Phones can last for several years before showing signs of degrading. You should only get a new phone when you absolutely need one.
Auto Pay
Most cell companies will give you a discount if you opt into auto-pay. These discounts can range from $5 to $15 per month, so if you have multiple accounts, it’s easy to see those savings add up.
Ask About Deals
Many times the easiest way to lower your bills is to simply ask to have it lowered. Companies have deals and discounts that you probably don’t even know about. Go ahead and call your carrier and ask about available deals. You’ll likely be surprised to find there are a few to be had.
Use WiFi
Unless you have an unlimited data plan, try to connect to wifi as often as possible. Why? Because data charges add up quite quickly. And speaking of unlimited data plans, make sure you actually need it. Look into your monthly usage and see if you can downgrade to a monthly data cap. It’s almost always cheaper.
