Want to make some extra money before the holidays? You’d better get started. The time is coming quickly, and while it may be too late to find a J-O-B, you can certainly make some extra funds by selling things you already have around the house or have made yourself. Here are some sites to consider.
Selling on Amazon
The biggest retailer around allows you to sell pretty much anything. There are two plans to choose from:
- Individual selling plan. You pay Amazon a referral fee — a percentage of the item’s sale price — and 99 cents per item sold. The referral fee can be anywhere from eight to 20 percent. There’s also a “closing fee” if you’re going to be selling electronics.
- Pro selling plan. This plan is really only if you are going big. You pay a flat $40 per month. If you plan on selling a lot, then this plan makes sense.
Poshmark for Clothing
If you have clothing you want to sell, Poshmark might be a good place to start.
- Flat Fee. If you sell something for under $15, you pay a flat fee of $2.95.
- Flat Fee Plus %. If you sell something for over $15, you pay 20 percent.
Using Etsy for Homemade Goods
Etsy is another mainstay that is a good site to sell homemade crafts and goods. When you list an item, you pay 20 cents. If you sell it, you pay a 6.5 percent fee on the item’s total sale price, including shipping.
Do One Thing: Before selling anything, review the site’s price and fee structure to ensure you’re getting good value.
